About The Auer Group
Built on decades of federal law enforcement leadership experience and a passion for developing those entrusted to lead.
Daniel W. (Danny) Auer
Mr. Auer is a retired federal agent with over 35 years of government and private industry service, 25+ years of which were in senior leadership positions. Throughout his career, he served as Chief-of-Staff in two different federal law enforcement agencies and retired as Chief of the Leadership Institute for the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC), an agency within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
In this capacity, Danny was the Senior Manager responsible for the overall development, delivery, and administration of FLETC's leadership training programs and research — providing services to over 90 law enforcement Partner Organizations and related stakeholders.
In August of 2018, Mr. Auer received certification from the Office of Personnel Management for his Executive Core Qualifications, making him eligible for non-competitive selection to the Senior Executive Service. He is a certified train-the-trainer for DISC, Motivators, and Emotional Intelligence Assessments.
Danny's approach to leadership is rooted in the belief that healthy relationships built on trust are a leader's most valuable currency. Like mindfulness or fitness, leadership is a journey, not a destination. It is a practice of self-improvement and continual learning that is as much an art as it is a science. It is an inward focused and self-analyzing approach first, before looking outward for the source of challenges. In so doing he demonstrates that by becoming the best version of ourselves we can best impact others to achieve unmatched results.
"Through the zealous development of trust and the practice of inward focus first, leadership is the art of creating an environment that maximizes the opportunity for other people to thrive and succeed."
Know Thyself
Self-awareness and introspection are critical for professional and career growth. To be the best in a given industry, leaders must challenge themselves every day and engage in continual learning.
Trust Building
Trust is a critical component of any relationship — personal or professional. Consciously or sub-consciously, all decisions and communications pass through an individual's trust filter and shape their interactions accordingly.
Feedback Is a Gift
One of the most reliable bellwethers of outstanding leadership is the ability to step outside oneself and receive all feedback as a gift — particularly feedback that is hard to hear.
Unwavering Self-Accountability
Leaders with heightened self-awareness take the approach of "looking inward first" to assess how their communications and actions contributed to any issue that failed to meet expectations.
Closing the Intent & Impact Gap
When planned outcomes fall short of expectations, the space between the desired result (intent) and the actual result (impact) needs to be closed by the leadership.
